BIMI (Brand Indicators for Message Identification) with corporate logos was introduced primarily for marketing and branding purposes, and was implemented in conjunction with the launch of email communications to customers.

Ms. Kitaya, Torima Business Group, GeoTechnologies, Inc.

GeoTechnologies, Inc. offers a wide range of services, including development and technical support using map databases, as well as marketing support through mobility data analysis.
On this occasion, the company implemented BIMI — displaying their corporate logo in emails — for “Torima,” a loyalty app service that allows users to earn points simply by traveling.

What types of emails were you mainly sending to your customers?

We send a variety of communications, including information about service features and notifications about point expiration dates. We had not previously been sending emails to customers, but as we prepared to launch email communications, we explored ways to communicate more effectively, which led us to consider implementing BIMI.

What prompted you to set up anti-spoofing measures (DMARC)? What challenges or concerns did you have?

We addressed the DMARC configuration and policy enforcement in conjunction with this BIMI implementation. The responsible team within the company proceeded carefully with thorough verification at each step, which did take some time, but the process was completed smoothly without any major issues.

Why did you decide to implement BIMI?

The initial motivation was the desire to display our logo in customers’ inboxes. With the logo visible, customers can instantly recognize who the email is from, which we believed would directly improve the credibility of our emails. We also felt it would be highly effective from a branding perspective, as it allows us to visually promote our brand.

Do you have any advice for companies considering implementing BIMI?

Beyond the security benefits of protecting against email spoofing, having your logo displayed in the inbox makes your emails less likely to get lost among others. I believe this is an initiative that can also deliver significant results from a marketing standpoint, including improvements in open rates.
