GMO Internet Group Companies Demonstrate an AI Environment That Enables the Use of Highly Confidential Intellectual Property Data While Keeping It Stored Domestically

GMO Brand Security, Inc. (Chief Corporate Officer: Mitsuaki Nakagawa; hereinafter “GMO Brand Security”), a member of the GMO Internet Group, has completed a proof of concept (PoC) for “GMO IP AI,” a generative AI solution designed to improve the efficiency of intellectual property operations such as patent searches and trademark evaluation. The PoC was conducted jointly with GMO IRD, Inc. (Representative: Masato Shiraishi; hereinafter “GMO IRD”) on “GMO GPU Cloud,” a GPU cloud service for generative AI provided by GMO Internet, Inc. (President and CEO: Tadashi Ito; hereinafter “GMO Internet”).

In this PoC, the companies confirmed that important intellectual property information, including patents and trademarks, can be retained within a domestic environment while still enabling generative AI to support information organization and analysis. They also verified that the environment can achieve response quality and processing performance at a level equivalent to that of commercial cloud-based AI services. These results demonstrate the feasibility of a secure AI environment in which highly confidential intellectual property data can be utilized without being transmitted to external parties.

Based on the outcome of this initiative, GMO Brand Security and GMO IRD will move forward with the practical implementation of “GMO IP AI” in conjunction with intellectual property management systems. The two companies aim to support greater efficiency and sophistication in intellectual property operations for corporations and government agencies, while also providing a sovereign AI infrastructure made in Japan that can be used with confidence even by organizations with stringent confidentiality requirements.
