NIKKEI featured GMO BRAND SECURITY’s latest 2026 research and expert insights in their June 28 report
We are proud to share that Nikkei (Japan's leading business daily) featured GMO BRAND SECURITY’s latest 2026 research and expert insights in their June 28 report on the vulnerability of email security in Japan.
Our comprehensive study of 1,103 Japanese universities revealed a critical gap: while DMARC adoption is increasing, only 5% (58 institutions) have enforced strict "quarantine" or "reject" policies. The rest remain at the "none" (monitoring) level, which fails to block spoofed emails.
According to global data cited in the article, Japan's enforcement rate among major companies stands at just 36%—the lowest among G7 nations, where enforcement typically exceeds 70%. With the rapid rise of AI-driven Business Email Compromise (BEC) and phishing attacks worldwide, relying on monitoring is no longer enough.
To safeguard corporate brand value and prevent devastating financial fraud, organizations must advance their security posture:
1. Upgrade DMARC policies from monitoring to strict enforcement (Quarantine/Reject).
2. Implement BIMI (Brand Indicators for Message Identification) to visually verify authentic emails with official corporate logos right in the inbox.
At GMO BRAND SECURITY, we specialize in demystifying complex technical standards into practical, seamless implementations. Let’s work together to eliminate security gaps and build a trusted digital environment.
