Case Study: Protecting Subscribers and Elevating Brand Value — Akita Cable Television Achieves BIMI/VMC Implementation Alongside Domain Migration
Aiming to combat email spoofing and enhance trust for subscriber communications, Akita Cable Television introduced Brand Indicators for Message Identification (BIMI) and Verified Mark Certificates (VMC) in conjunction with migrating their email delivery domain.
Akita Cable Television Co., Ltd. is a community-based telecommunications provider offering cable TV, internet, and telephone services, alongside a diverse range of businesses including retail, across Akita Prefecture.
While delivering subscriber-directed emails via in-house servers, the company faced mounting challenges from increasingly sophisticated domain spoofing and phishing risks, making subscriber protection an urgent priority. To adhere to modern industry standards and enhance delivery reliability as a bulk email sender, Akita Cable Television initiated a comprehensive security upgrade.
To avoid disruption to subscriber email accounts, the company migrated its email delivery domain to an internal domain. Utilizing tools such as open-source software and Google Apps Script (GAS) to meticulously analyze DMARC reports, they gradually strengthened their security policies. Alongside this transition, they implemented BIMI and VMC to visually distinguish authentic emails and bolster brand recognition. By displaying their official logo directly in recipients' inboxes, customer support can now clearly verify legitimate communications, streamlining inquiries and providing subscribers with heightened peace of mind.
