Nippon TV News Featured Results of “Nationwide Local Government Email Security Survey”
— Only 1.9% of Local Governments Have Effective DMARC Settings; Analysis of Anti‑spoofing Measures
Broadcast on Thursday, March 12, 2026, Nippon TV News featured findings from GMO Brand Security’s “Nationwide Local Government Email Security Survey.” The program highlighted the current state of email security among local governments based on our survey of 862 local authorities (47 prefectures and 815 municipalities).
The survey revealed that only 1.9% of local governments have implemented effective DMARC settings (quarantine/reject) that can actually block spoofed emails, exposing a serious “high‑risk” situation with regard to impersonation emails.
GMO Brand Security will continue to contribute to strengthening cybersecurity measures for local governments and businesses and to realizing a safe, secure digital society through advanced research and analysis of domain and email security.
